2/12/2024 0 Comments Aeon flux dvdThis box set contains three DVDs, each with a handsome and art covered cardboard case. This is the Aeon Flux that most remember despite the short life of the series with a mere 10 episodes.Īlthough several videos of Aeon Flux have been released in the past decade, for the first time can a fan get the complete series with a single purchase. Added with her attire of leather straps that left little to the imagination and her ability to seduce anyone, male or female, at the drop of a hat, she was the ultimate spy and terrorist agent.Īeon Flux became such a huge hit for the show and developed a large fan base, prompting MTV to make a full length (22 minutes per episode) of the somewhat surreal double agent/assassin that was seen in the shorts of Liquid Television. Needless to say, this would often make her missions fail or go in a completely different direction with unplanned and unforetold results, not always bad, but seldom what was being aimed at as a successful ending.Īeon was a master sneaker and highly trained in various forms of combat, hand to hand and weapons, as well as being an excellent burglar and accomplished at bypassing security devices. She had her own reasons for whatever she did and sometimes those reasons would change in mid task, thus causing her to back track and attempt to undo what she had already accomplished. She was not motivated by power or money or goodness or anything. However, Aeon was also selfish and undependable in many ways because she would only do something if SHE wanted to. Aeon Flux was the terrorist, th e fly in the ointment, pain in the rear, lover, hater and hated of despot Treavor Goodchild and all his schemes to get the world to think like him and behave the way he wanted them to. He created a character so off the wall and able to do seemingly impossible things while still remaining almost believable as a human. MTV didn't have any idea what they wanted, but they knew it had to be "out there" and have the super human qualities that was able to capture the minds of their target audience. It was here that Aeon Flux was born as short cartoons that aired in two to three minute segments during the series.Įnter Peter Chung, a man who had been working on a cartoon series whose main subject was highly limited in action and speech. In the 90's, MTV made a bold move into a new area of the viewing groups, particularly aiming to capture the young adult crowd with a show called Liquid Television. I was sad after I finished watching the DVDs I still want more. There's also a totally slick feature about Æon's equipment, and be sure t o check out Æon's voice actress in the extras it totally flipped my script. These were useful because I felt that some of the stories were a bit too abstract for my understanding the first time through. This box set has plenty of commentaries with the show's creators for special feature enthusiasts. ![]() It's delightfully outside-the-box funky, an instant scifi cult classic! There's a sexier, edgier appeal to the animated MTV series that was missing in the live action movie of the same title. Peter Chung's unique style really shines in this trippy masterpiece of animation. Æon Flux is mostly a visual story with intriguing cloak and dagger plots and cool futuristic and philosophical themes. Overall, I thought this DVD box set was a really fun ride all the way through the series and the features. Instant Science Fiction Cult Classic with Great Extras ![]() Innovative and highly influential, AEON FLUX is presented in its entirety with this collection that includes both the shorts and the longer episodes in beautifully restored and remastered editions. In addition to a unique visual style that echoed Japanese anime, the series distinguished itself with experimental narrative that eschewed continuity, plot, and even dialogue for a distinctly postmodern slice of sci-fi nihilism. Moody and stylish, the sci-fi-themed series chronicled the morally ambiguous adventures of its titular antiheroine, Aeon Flux, an acrobatic and bondage-clad secret agent who carried out her mercenary missions in a futuristic, BLADE RUNNER-like society. The edgy cult favorite originated as a sequence of film shorts aired as part of MTV's animation showcase, Liquid Television, but proved to be so popular that it was soon expanded into its own full-length series. In the early 1990s, animator Peter Chung presaged the bleak futurism of THE MATRIX with his cutting-edge animated series AEON FLUX.
